is a 300CE rare?

I'm looking to find a 300CE coupe. There seems to be very few for sale. Are they rare? Also what's the average price you pay? I'm looking for something in the 1k or a little above range. Rather buy a project and do it myself and make jt nice.

Nonetheless, the numbers are low for the CE. Each year there was less than the previous sold. My '90 was one of a bit over 2K sold in the US that year, my 91 was one of 1929, RIP.

The depressing part is how little they book for. You'd think the low volume coupe version of the venerable 124 chassis would be a valuable car, but to date at least, you'd be wrong.

I sold my '89 a few months ago. They don't fetch what a sedan does, and I don't understand why. Look for rust in the strut mounts and as always look for maintenance records. Mine had no records so I started from scratch. Pulled the motor and trans and rebuild both. I did get my asking price which some thought was too high. I would buy another one in heartbeat!

Thanks guys. I'm buying one to keep one. One of the best looking Benz coupes to date in my opinion. Timeless style.

I had mine for nearly ten years. When you open that sunroof and open all four windows, it's awesome! Also, check your c pillars (on the interior). The plastic hooks tend to break on those from wind buffeting. I ended up glueing earth magnets on mine and it worked like a charm! Let us now how your search goes. Here is a convertible listed in the Cinci market: https://www.ebth.com/items/8148343-1993-mercedes-benz-300ce-convertible

I saw that one! But I’ve already got a rusty old benz in Cincy....if I’m able to make it over to their warehouse and view it I’d be happy to report on any questions folks might have.

I think that's a cool conversion. I thought of it before, but the m103 and m104 are great engines. Known for the longevity like diesels. Essentially the m104 is an om606 with a different head.

Looks like that car is gone. Wonder how much it was priced at. Definitely wouldn't want a convertible unless it was an early 90s R129 V8. I'm usually not interested in them considering I've done a lot of work on those hydraulic systems and I hate it.

Yes the 103&104 are great engines but the 104 I had in my CE had the CIS fuel system I had problems passing the smog check in Cafornia and I use to fill my tank and I only got 280 miles out of it now I fill my tank and I get 420 miles big difference
