Ml 320 Multiple fault codes p2025-004
Help I have multiple codes tripping the check engine light.P 2025-004 and p2025-016 and p2025-064 cyl 2,3,4 ignition duration, value to small? Are three coils bad or is there another issue. Thanks Devil Dog

So I clear the codes.Start the vehicle no issues no Dtc.Shut off restart and with in seconds Dtc and same codes appear on the scanner. Also swapped #1 and #4 coils and wires no help same codes. Also I checked and changed some vacuum lines behind the vacuum pump.Checked #3 wires and plug no issues except still has lots of dielectric grease in the wire.Im confused what is causing this.Three cylinders showing the same issue. Also changed battery with an newer one I had and charged the voltage running is 13.8 a little low and the battery charged shows 12.3 volts. Also the codes associated with these are 3053,3052,3054 all associated with cylinders 2,3,4 any other suggestions.I don’t have a real problem changing the coils and wires.Plugs are fairly new. Also this all happened after my wife hit a hard bump in the road.

Makes me think this is a spark burn time problem. RE: The amount of time the spark plug is arcing. Have you pulled the plugs? Without researching farther, I'd say the gap is too large. Did you ohm the plug wires? |

Well I thought that and pulled number 3 cyl b plug and regaped and as I did swap #4 and #1 cyl coils and wires but not plugs.Still the same.I did not change the wires out when I did the plugs in the fall.I will try new and plugs maybe their bad.

97sl320 could it be a bad cam position sensor I have 140,000miles never changed it.

I would not expect it to be a cam sensor problem.
The cam sensor is there just for the computer to recognize if a cylinder is on the compression or exhaust stroke. On some engines with variable cam timing is is there to confirm the cam timing changed. You could mark and make a map of the plugs. wires, coils then move every thing around to good cylinders. You really need the detailed MB description / trouble shooting chart to determine what tests need to be done. |
