Going Through Puddles/Exhaust Noise

Last night while driving through some serious rain, my 2001 ML 320 started sounding like it had an exhaust leak after driving through some good size (no where near engine stalling) puddles. This would go away as I drove and then happen agian as the undercarriage got a good splash. No loss in power, hesitation etc https://speedtest.vet/ https://vidmate.bid/ .

Has anyone had this problem?

It's possible you have a cracked weld on one or both of the front catalytic convertors. This is a fairly common thing, unfortunately it's a rather expensive repair using genuine parts. To know for sure requires a close visual inspection of the welds. Sometimes you can hear the leaks when under the car with the engine running.

Have a helper restrict the tailpipe with a wet towel. If there's a leak that'll make it easy to find.
