I believe plugs had to be changed at 160,000 kms or 4 years? but gilly is it better to change it earlier?

On the filter, I don't get a whole lot of fuel loss or spray when replacing the filter. The biggest hassle on the filter is what I previously posted, the modification that needs to be done.
On the plugs, on the 98 and 99 the recommendation on the plugs was 100,000 miles or 4 years (whichever comes first). In 2000 they went to 100,000 miles or 5 years. In my opinion I would do them at 4 years not 5, I am worried we will have problems with the plugs seizing into the head, plus some of the plugs i've done at 100,000 look pretty darn worn. A couple of the owners I've talked to with higher mileage 112 engines say that they noticed a general improvement in driveability after the plugs were replaced. Gilly |
Are they relatively easy to replace and does MB spec a brand. I'm certain they're all Platinum tipped or complete platinum electrode.

Not too bad of a job especially on an ML. With experience you could do them in under an hour. Getting the plug wires off is the hardest part usually.

B - Service
Is there a payment for this service even if you are still under warranty? Unless the wear and tear - brakes pads and rotors.

No, not as a maintenance job anyways, they are replaced at 4 years (5 years on 2001 and newer) or 100,000 miles, so you'll be out of warranty before the plugs need changing.
