Lightbulb Hey tabo ! Question re: headlights & source...

Hello there !

I realized when I look at your car picture on another post below, that you are also from British Columbia - the "N" on the back of the BMW kind of gives it away, as do the familiar looking (but not entirely legible) license plates.

I like the updated grille treatment you've given your ML - I have done the same with my 2000 ML 320. I notice you've got the new headlights on yours - where did you get them and who did the installation for you ? I'd like to know because I'm seriously thinking of doing the same upgrade.

Thanks in advance !

Hans

www.************************

I got it from the website above, I paid $365 US for the pair, and was heavily charged of taxes thanks to our so kind canadian government. I was quoted at dealer, $1,000 CANADIAN for each light.. so of course I got from the website, if you need help for anything for your Ml320 (paint jobs, problems, oil changes, installs) you can private email me at acura0@hotmail.com, or you can visit my body shop at 1740 powell street, my name is steven.. Also I wouldn't order from dealer because they don't come with the pigtail adapters that performance product provides! because it is christmas, expect the lights to come 1 month later after purchase. the BMW Z3 is my brothers car,
unfortunately its standard and I don't know how to drive standard haha, and I don't plan to learn because I've driven automatic all my life.

Smile Thanks & two more questions....

Tabo,

Thank you for your helpful reply ! It's great to get some feedback from someone who knows what they're doing and speaks from experience.

First question: the lights you've ordered, are they the Halogen type or the Xenons ? The reason I'm asking is because I went on the PerformanceProducts site and they quote their Halogens at around $395 and the Xenons at $1100 I think (both figures US $). I can't tell from your picture - but from the price you've given it seems like they are the Halogen ones. How do you like them & how do they compare with the original ones ?

Second question: now that you don't have any front fog lights anymore, does your "rear" foglight still work when you push the bottom of the "foglight" switch on your centre console ? By pressing the bottom of the foglight switch you get the green light that comes on on the instument panel, and the yellow LED in the foglight switch lights up - indicating the activation of both the front AND rear foglights (rear one is a bright light on the driver's side taillight assembly). So... does your rear light still come on, even without the front lights being wired ?

Many thanks !
Hans
PS: I'll be sure to drop by your shop in January - nice to have a place close by to go and talk "shop" !

no more foglights...

the part no. i gave you are for the "projector lights" the new style for the headlights from the 2003 ml500, xenon hid is something totally different, have you ever seen a mercedes, audi, drive past you and there lights are blueish tint color and blinds you? that is called HID or XENON.. you can buy them seperately.. i have both, first I got the projectors, than i installed the HID bulb and ballast after, the hid kit alone can costs $1,000 its not cheap.. and yes you loose the foglights but i have the xenon lights is so bright the fog lights are useless and i believe you still get the rear foglights.. you can get the xenon bulbs for your car using your old projector headlights assemblies.. but of course the new projectors are more attractive!
