Angry ML320 rattling noise in front

I bought 2002 ML320.
At first time, this car has rattling at the right side of front panel
at front passenger side. Exactly, speaking, it is inside globe box.

After fixing it, the left most of the front side has rattling.
I do not know where the noise is coming from(inside or outside).
Specially, when the weather is cold(under 57 degree), the rattling will come after driving few minutes.

MB customer service center tried to fix more than 7 times, but they cant.
I want to know somebody has the same problems, before.

Until recently, I noticed the same rattling noise

...coming from the same direction (glove box area). It has been cold here in the eastcoast recently and thats when I started noticing the noise. I have a 2003 ML350. It doesn't bother me though. I'm content with playing my favorite CD's...rattling noise goes away

I recently had a rattle coming from the same area. Found that the front passenger side mud flap was loose. Give it a shot!

This car is a little late for the problems I have in mind. I have in mind problems that would be more in the 2000-2001 era, not a later one like 2002.
There is one problem I know of on the slightly earlier ones which involve a noise on the right lower corner of the windshield, and involves removing and reinstallin the windshield, although we had a couple where MB actually told us to replace the windshield. The fault wasn't with the glass but the molded frame around the glass (not available seperately).
There is another similar noise, can't remember the exact complaint/location of the noise, but it somehow involves the right hood hinge. I think the hood and hinge need to be removed for that one, and some type of modification done to the area the hinge bolts to on the body. I will try to check for DTB's on these problems.

I had an ML270 with a rattle that sounded like it came from the glovebox. It was actually traced to a small rubber strip under the corner of the hood nearest the windscreen. Noise only heard when it was cold, stopped it by rubbing some vaseline on the top of the strip. hope this helps

Hi Soundman, just curious.... saw your location is here in the states. Where did you get your ML270? I thought this is a European only version.

kiiwii,

You are right, I just move from Scotland and now have an ML320 here in the States. I had the diesel in Scotland as gas is the equivelant of $6.5 a gallon
