I am changing the cabin air filter that I bought through fastlane.
The part from fastlane has an air flow direction.

(A) Now what's the airflow on a 99ML cabin air filter?
Is it from right to left or left to right?

(B) I also bought the Mann engine airfilter. the underside of it is a completely different shape from the stock airfilter that is flat. The Mann airfilter on the underside is stepped. So if you look at it from the side, it looks like this:

Now which is front (towards the firewall) ?

The dust cabin filter is located under your glove box on the passenger side, you have to remove the kick panel to access it, and the air filter you have there is the latest style(oem has the same shape as yours), the older air filters were flat, you want to lay the fins downwards, the air filter is held on by 6 clips.

But that doesn't answer my question(s).
Is the airflow right to left or left to right?

What about engine airfilter? any thoughts?

But I've done the maintenance before, and I believe that it doesn't matter what direction you are facing because it works bothways...

On the engine air filter, we were never told to install it any particular way, so either way is fine. (stepped side does face down though).
On the dust filter, it flows from right to left, so the fine plastic mesh side goes on the left side.

I would think the larger pleats would be best nearest the mass air meter.

BTW, the purolator filter has even pleats. Bought the last one from Mannie Moe and Jack.

Gotta do the cabin filter too...

The mass air meter/sensor connects to the upper half of the air box to the intake tube.
