K-Jetronic limitations off-road
Hello all,
Just a few questions for those of you with G-Wagens that are running the K-Jetronic system. Basicly I want to know what, if any, limitations the motor has off road. I'm fairly familiar with L-Jetronic and Ford EFI, both of which seem to work nearly perfect off-road regardless of angle, bouncing, etc. Does the K-Jetronic function as well? I've been researching getting an older G-Wagen, but a VW "expert" I know said that the K-Jetronic doesn't work well off road due to the air flow meter bouncing around causing the fuel distribution to the injectors to be erattic. Please set me straight, any info would be appreciated! |

I have never heard of any such problem. The spring that regulates the opening of the "trap door" in the airflow meter is pretty well dampend. It is highly unlikely that it is going to be bouncing around. I think my 300GE had this system, never had a problem.
Now maybe if you want to tackle Paris-Dakar......
