"honey comb" bumper grill

I need instruction on how to take out the "honey comb"grill and the kind of silver paint. Is there a specific paint number or just plain silver.

There are molded in clips around the perimeter of the grille. Just put your fingers into the holes and gently pull the grille out of the bumper. No idea on which type of paint to use. I'd assume you could wipe it down with a degreaser, such as rubbing alcohol, and paint it with a spray can of enamel.

the professional way is

sand it down with fine sandpaper, than use a solvent to remove grease and oil, than prime it, than sand again, than paint it, than clearcoat it! lots of work! if you want it professionally done! I can do it for you if you live in vancouver, since I work at a body shop here. your paint is special I think u have the "desert silver" I can paint it for your if you like color matched at your cost, or you can do it yourself the paint number is usually on the door jam...

Actually my ML is black Opal

And I have the ML 500 chrome grill on top and I wanted to paint(instead of buying) with the same color as my grill. What should i do.

consider using chrome paint

Go to the parts store (discount auto, pep boys) and see their chrome paint. It will not paint as chrome as it claims to do, but it will paint a very metalic looking silver, like the one on your grill. If you use silver paint you will get a 'brilliant silver' kind of color, which is not what you want. I can almost guarantee it willl not be the same silver color, but doubt you'll notice the difference.

Then you can follow the directions posted earlier, if you screw it up, I guess you could repainted or buy the piece.

My ML is brilliant silver and I wanted sort of a monochromatic look so I painted the grill with silver paint which looks like the rest of the car. The 'new' ML55 grill is not the same silver, but a more metalic silver.

hope this helps
