Side mirror dip on reverse
I read in some forums (dont remember where) that the passenger side mirror angles down when you put the car's gear in reverse so that you can see the curb. Is this true? If yes does it apply to a 98 ML320 (matic) model and how do you activate this?
Thanks in Advance! |
I don't think so...
I never heard or used that option on my ML since I owned it.. I think you have to do it manually everytime you park. You can always put a convex mirror and stick it onto your mirror, maybe that will help you.

Our 99 E300 has this. To activate it you leave the mirror adjustment button in the right mirror position. The E300 has a left or right button that you push and then the toggle switch alows you to adjust the mirror. If you have this, try leaving the right mirror button pushed in. When you put the car in reverse you will see the right mirror drop and move outwward slightlly.

pretty sure the auto adjusting mirror only comes with ml's that have memory seats feature. (my '02 doesn't have memory seats, and doesn't turn the mirror down when reversing, though i know that feature exists on some ML's).

Sorry I haven't been able to reply much to the posts. I'm having problems with my computer. It seems like the only problems I have are when using MercedesShop when trying to reply to a post. It may be my computer or a problem with MercedesShop. Still trying to figure it out.
The early ML's didn't have the parking position, I don't believe it was available until 2002, and even then i agree you had to have memory seat such as was suggested earlier. Has anyone else had problem posting at MercedesShop? It seems like the problem started quite suddenly. I am on a dial-up, which I know doesn't help anything, but it seems like in other areas the computer itself is fine, just MercedesShop. Gilly |

As for the mirror...
I had to program the lookdown position as per the owners manual. We have a 2003 ML 500. It did not happen without first being programmed.

Gilly, no problems now . . . .
About a month ago, I couldn't get on the site for about 2 days. Since then, it's been working well. I, too, am on a phone line . I have Windows 98. Good luck, we need you!
