Purchased an '02 G500 last week,,,
I found this forum and spent hours reading though the archives...
I purchased a Starmarked '02 G500 with 12K miles on the clock. In the past few years, I have owned a few different SUVs (lexus 450, Toyota Land Cruiser and most recently an '01 Range Rover 4.6) A few comments: Cons- -The first hour in the car were a dissappointment. The driving position was too upright and the HUGE cockpit felt odd. -The gas pedal was tough to depress... Pros- After the first hour, the above cons were GONE! The car felt great. Being a small car (smaller footprint than a Ford Explorer) I felt I could maneuver the car at will. The upright seats are a pleasure to sit in (550 miles so far). The gas pedal is honest...press on it and the car goes, go figure! The car feels like a Brick Sh-t house! Very solid and a very quiet cabin. This becomes apparent when you slightly open one of the windows and you hear a tremendous din...once the window closes, you can hear a pin drop. The car shifts as smooth as my wife's 7 series BMW, maybe smoother. The power going up long steep grades is outstanding! The interior appointments are beautiful. I could go on and on, but I am sure I would only reiterate what many of you already feel. I test drove the new Range Rover just hours before I purchased the G. I am a huge Rover fan and will most likely have one in the next few years, however, it will sit side by side with my G. What an amazing car... I am gald I found this forum as I have already learned some interesting information about this amazing vehicle. When I get this beast off road, I will post my impressions... That said, are there any other G or ML owners in the SF Bay Area that go to local OHV parks? I know there are a few in the East Bay and South Bay... I am anxious to get the G dirty. Anthony |
