Forum Leaders – Thank You!

I have recently purchased my first Mercedes, a ML-320. Just a few days ago I came across this web site and have spend hours reading posts.

I just wanted to post a ‘thank you’ to all the people posting replies, helping, and sharing the combined wisdom that this group has to offer.

Great job to Gilly and all the rest!

Now if I can just stop cleaning the windshield every time go to take it out of park, LOL

Why do you have to do that?

Talking Think and Talk Like an Italian ...

If you'd talk like an Italian, your hands wouldn't be touching the window washing lever!

Welcome to M-Shop, Houston ... and congrats with your new acquisition.

Hey Gilly (I feel special having the master ask the student a question)

The wiper stalk is located on the right side of the steering wheel. When you pull it back it washes the windshield. The other cars, ok, most of the cars on the road, that location is reserved for the shifter. By habit I grab and pull back then down as one would do to take a car out of park. In time I’m sure this will pass. I’m not the only girl this has ever happened to, am I?

Hey Norm (Now I feel like I’m taping a ‘Cheers’ reunion)

Thanks for the welcome.

... It happens to the best of us!

No worries ... when my 500 is in the shop, the dealer I go to gives me loaner cars, and one time I got an ML. I did exactly what you did - wash the windows!

And Houston, when someone yells out my name like in Cheers, I expect to be handed a cold, tall glass of beer!!!!

Again, welcome!

It just seems like the wiper/washer arm would be short enough that if you thought it had a column shift that if you reached for the "ghost" shifter that you'd miss it.
But it does take a little getting used to, going from a column shift to a floor shift, most newbie MB owners probably go through a bit of this, or any other brand that has a floor shift (which seems like most of them). I'm kind of the opposite, just got an S10 ZR2 truck with of course a column shift .

Actually, for the first few weeks, I squirted the windshield every time I wanted to turn on the headlights!

My other two MBs have the headlight switch on the left side of the dash, so this one is entirely new!
