Torsion Bar Cracking Noise FIX

Hi,
Does anyone know if the procedure below is a permament fix to the torsion bar noise?

CAUSE: RE & RE TORSION BARS, INSTALL SHIMS, CREAKING FROM FRONT.

FRONT TORSION BAR (SUSPENSION) - BOTH - R&R - 0.80 hrs
2X 163-326-00-25 plate (this is the shim)
1X 000-983-89-10 felt strip - 0.20 hrs

This was done in January 2002 for the same issue. Note that the previous fix rectified that particular issue. This is related, but not identical.

2. REPAIR CAUSE OF CREAKING NOISE IN FRONT END; CAUSE: NOISE FROM TORSION BAR ADJUSTERS. RE/RE ADJUSTERS AND MODIFIED AS PER FACTORY SERVICE BULLETIN

TORSION BAR BEARING/ADJUSTER - L/FRONT, R&R - 0.60 HRS
TORSION BAR BEARING/ADJUSTER - R/FRONT, R&R - 0.60 HRS
PERFORM TORSION BAR ADJUSTER MODIFICATION - 0.40 HRS
2X 163-326-00-25 PLATE

LOCATED CHASSIS NOISE, RE & RE FRONT TORSION BARS. INSTALL TORSION BAR BRACKET INSULATORS

Any ideas what the felt was used for?

Hi Steve,

I had this repair done and it made the noise go away. One year later it was back with a vengeance and the dealer ended up having to REPEAT the entire procedure and found the shim had cracked again.

But I believe the above is a TSB and will definitely fix the torsion bar cracking / clacking / clicking noise...

Hey Roadsession. I believe this is a pretty easy DIY, however I understand where the shims are placed, just cannot figure out where the felt comes into play. I am about to order the parts, but am unsure if I should order the felt or not. I cannot find a diagram indicating its placement. Any ideas?
