Comments on a 1988 G280
Can anyone give any comments on a 1988 G280 (gasoline). I just saw one here and it is in OK condition. 3rd World Version. It has 107,000 Km on it, with a 4 speed manual (?) transmission. Any weak points on these cars or engines?
Suposably there is something wrong with the cam (?) on this vehcile but the dealer said it would fix it for me before the sale. This kinds scares me, is it normal for a G-wagon to have problems with the cam? I am in a position where I can sell my wife´s honda and then get this G for me and I will give her my 190. Thanks, Iggy

Howdy Iggy,
I don't remember that the cam was a trouble spot for the 280. If you trust the dealer to fix it right then that shouldn't be a problem. If you notice a vibration it might be from the U joints or it could be a bent driveshaft but make sure they are fixed. Check for rust behind each tire in the wheel wells. The 280G didn't have all the electronics that later models had so that helps keep the electrical problems down. With so few miles on it it sounds like you will get a good one.
