How to remove window switches on 98 ml

My window switch is going out on the driver side. I took out the center compartment, but unable to get access to the main switches. I think I have to remove the entire center console to get at the part. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

John

removing center console

I try to lift up the center console. It seemed to be bolted down(?). Can you elucidate what was done?

Thanks,

John

Try this

Make sure you remove the plastic tray under the radio and your glove box has to be removed as well.. the switch panel is not bolted down, its only held by clips you just pull it out gently...

removing panel

The wood center panel was not easy to pull out. I had to use a flat screw driver to nudge the retaining clips under it. I used a lot of force at first pushing it from below but it would not budge. I thought this will help others with the same problems. Thanks for the link, it was very helpful.
