Front brush guard........99ML430
Driving me nuts......someone just gave me a front guard. Dont know year or anything where it came from. Small one with chrome mud guard. Rear bolts were a pain in the butt but got them in. Center brace seems like it should be mounted in front of frame....but no access. ????( removed grill etc. but it comes up short) Installed in the back but had to add 2 1 1/2 inches of solid pipe and longer screws to make up the difference. Looks good but what the hell am i doing wrong?? Hate to do things half ass. Any help much appreciated.

The reason why it comes up short on install, is because the beams along the center frame go THROUGH the bumper.
Mine came installed at the dealership, and they obviously cut two round holes to gain access to the beam just behind the front bumper. The lower portion of the bars don't attach to anything, but then again, your's has a chrome skid plate and mine doesn't...

Thanks much !!
Mine is a different install i think. The mud guard has holes that match with the lower bars that swivel so you can adjust somewhat. they bolt on at the very end before the sway bar underneath the car. The center pc. that goes through the very bottom grill is about 4" wide and bolts too the frame. I will take a better look at it and take some pics. I also got side steps that went on in 5 minutes. they say mercedes Benz but no stamp or #'s anywhere. |
