80s G as daily driver?

If I were to purchase a G from the 1980s (300GD would be ideal) would it be usable as a daily driver? I know that I wouldn't hesitate to drive an 83 300D as a daily driver after it got it's initial maintanance checkup, but I don't know how different the Gs are. Are things like axle seals and the like totally worn out after 15-20 years, or are they built like other Merecdes of the period?

I'd appreciate any thoughts that you have.

-Tad

If your commute doesn't require you to travel much over 60MPH you should do fine, they aren't know for speed, or at least the 300GD's where... There is a forum member here, that lives in Canada that has a 300GD, and I believe it is used as a daily driver.
