Who does a good Wheel Alignment in Jersey ?

I'm in need of a wheel alignment since I just changed a guide rod and the mount. I've had the car for over a year and I still never had any type of alignment done and the steering wheel was way off center about a few months back (no tire wear though).

Any good shops in Jersey ?

I know about the shop forum- I even checked it out and nobody seems to post in there. If I asked this question there someone would reply in about 2 weeks.

I'm hoping that someone from Jersey is surfing this ACTUAL forum and maybe they'll even post something. (plenty of Jersey people around here)

Thanks

If you can get down to South Jersey, try Borchers

Borchers Auto Service
409 Coles Road
Blackwood, NJ 08012
(856) 227-8877

If you can get to Delaware, Hansens, (302) 798-6741

Borchers is very good. They are very competent and honest and they never charge that much even if they spend hours and hours doing it ....but call ahead and tell them waht car you are doing

front end alignment 240d

Kamil, not sure but for proper alignment on some if not all 123 series I think the shop has to have a hydralic load bar that goes between front tires to simulate preload of when moving ahead. Where I live no local shop or dealer has one so modern alignment machines reject the car. But found out the older fmc alignment machines do not reject these car as they have no provision for the bar in their system. Perhaps most the shops in your area have these bars and it is irrelevant. Someone with a lot more knowlege will comment I hope as my knowledge is limited. I have not seemed to experience any abnormal tire wear using the early fmc system.(no bar) Thirty five dollars versus the 180.00 mercedes wanted. When in cleveland last fall wanted an alignment performed on a 123 before driving it home and also ran across the same problem. Spent more than a little time going shop to shop and finding that their equipment would not do a 1979 240d. Unless someone has had a 123 series to the particular shop that you have chosen pick up phone and check with them before taking your car in just to be positive they can do it.

Good Shops in NJ

For alignment, I've been happy with Dornicks in Madison on Main St. 973-822-0488
For overall Benz, fellow by the name of Imre (Imree) in Short Hills. Independent Car Service is the official name, but he usually answers the phone with his name. Don't let the short hills address fool you. Prices are good. 973-376-2623 is his #. He's right across from the Short Hills NJ transit station, so it's nice for pick ups and drop offs.
Imre may do alignment, but I needed tires as well, so did both at Dornicks.
Straight shooters, both of them.

Why not try the dealership? I got really lucky with the one in Richmond. I posted about it a few weeks ago.
