This is follow-up of my post on this thread.
What I wrote on 12-13-2005: Chambers Motorcars, Somerville, MA told me (and wrote on the invoice) to replace A/C compressor ($1400) (it was after they diagnosed my A/C twice), but at other MB dealer the A/C was repaired without A/C compressor replacement. The A/C worked well in the summer, 2005. The A/C worked well in the summer 2007, too. Herb Chambers (New England's largest car dealer) operates another MB dealer, Flagship. It was bad too. They claimed that it was impossible to adjust the front caster into spec because the rear of the car was sagged, and they gave me a very poor quality print-out. At other MB dealer, the caster was brought into spec without any difficulty. Do you think MB USA will do something if I report my bad experiences with the two MB dealers owned by Herb Chambers?

Teddy's Foreign Motors
Teddy's Foreign Motors in Somerville, Ma is my recommendation based on my experience. I have an '81 300D and this guy knows my car inside and out. "Been working on these since I was a kid" was what he told me. Will do as little or as much as I wanted done on the car and the price was very reasonable for what I had done. In my experience he was a very honest and respectful guy and at no point did he have that "I know better than you" attitude. But I'm sure everybody has their bad days. Used to be in Belmont on Trapelo road but recently moved. I think this guy really knows his stuff but I guess you can call him and talk to him for yourself to see what your comfort level is. I wish I lived closer to him. I'd give Teddy all my business.

Western Mass MB Mechanic??
I saw Mario's listed in Chicopee. Does anyone know of another MB Expert (Like Russ mentioned in this forum) in the Western Mass Area? We all don't live inside of the 495 circle
I have a 1985 German built 500 SEC that worked fine until the Mrs. Drove it (No Puns please). It wouldn't start after she got it home. After a quick inspection, I noticed that the Rotor was completely burned out. Changed Plugs, Wires, Rotor, and Cap... Fires up Perfectly. However, when we took it to town, it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. Checked the linkage adjustment behind the carb (under the air cleaner) - nothing looked changed. Checked the vacuum leak - looked OK. fluid Level is OK - Shifted Perfectly before this occurrence. Thought I messed something up - but all looks A-OK. |
