Grapes,

Try Ramsey Motors in Ramsey, NJ (Bergen County). Ask for Ralph. I took my car there for 14 years and still visit for quality work from Ohio. (201) 327-3200

Good luck!

good shop in north jersey

I have been using a great mechanic named Nick at European Technical Center, in Little Ferry (off Rte 46 near Fort Lee) for the past few months. Nice guy, none of his bills have floored me, and his prices on some parts are pretty close to on-line parts places. I do some of my own work, and he has supplied the parts and some helpful hints. He knows his diesels, owns and drives a few himself.

I can't really afford an MB (even my 16 year old model) unless I do most of the work, but it is good to have an expert to fall back on when I lack time or tools.

Just thought you'd like to know. Tell him I sent you.

Hi,

Looking for a reccomendation of a good body shop in northern NJ, preferably Bergen, Passaic, Hudson Counties to check out possible spots of rust on the body of my 83 300D, and also to prhaps get it sanded down and repainted. Any reccomendations are appreciated.

Turbo............

Have you had work done at that shop in Roxbury? Given your technical expertise, I respect your referral. They are "kind" of close to my house, and would be handy for stuff I don't want to do.

What's your experience.

Sorry for being late responding, I totally forgot about this post.

Yes, I had some work done there, they fixed (rebuilt) my sunroof on my 300SDL and did a great job and I also had them do my brakes. I plan on them doing my front end in the near future as well.. they really know what they are doing and they are great guys. Its a family owned business, father and son work there. They also always have a ton of benzes out front, they also really love what they do, I just talk with them for an hour at a time about benzes.

I travel about 50 minutes to get there from my house, because all of the mechanics near me are morons.

The owner of the place (dad) is Hienz and the son is Andreas. I would reccomend them to anyone.

Hope this helps.

John

Don't know about Northern NJ, but there's this guy called Mike in Queens (53rd & Queens Blvd, On Queens Blvd.) - his shop is called MB Repairs - I have been getting work done from him since 1991, I would highly recommend him. I still take my car to him sometimes, though I am in Cleveland, so you are much closer. Tell him Anurag from Cleveland sent you.

Theres a place on rt. 46 in SaddleBrook on the westbound side.
The owner (quiet Italian named Freddy) did work on my car months back. He solved the problem, which was anything but obvious, in one day. Being that he works on European cars considerably his price is higher than average, depending on the problem, but definately fair. He knows his stuff. If you want I can get the address and #, because I don't have it on me.

Your ride sounds sweet, how many miles does she have?

Thanks for the info guys.

Fusion, I would like to use this shop since i'm only a town away, can you get me the name and exact location (for those who don't know, RT 46 here is riddled with dealers, body shops, and quick lubes).

Yes it's a sweet ride, especially with the AMG Mono II's, they were meant to go together. She's got 80k miles and runs strong. But, since I bought it from a young and careless fellow, it needs a little TLC (you know, top too slow, leaking steering fluid, minor dings). I'll try and post pics in the spring.

Thumbs up

I'm getting the info mailed to me (I don't know where I put the business card), and then I'll forward it to you.
You live one town over?!? I live in Garfield!
Nice choice on the wheels, I'm also rollin on 17"AMG mono block II's. The milage is pretty low. Mine has 130K mi. but its older.

MB's seriously ride for a long time if taken care of. Especially
one with more weight such as yours. I had a 92 560 sec years
back. The darn thing was still fine with just under 200K mi.!!!
The tranny died finally (usually the case for big bodied automatics).
