Rdm Mercedes Repair Inc.

I have a '99 E320 210 chassis and a '89 560SL 107 chassis. I recently got an estimate from the dealer, VITI in Tiverton, for an a/c compressor replacement. The dealer wanted to replace not only the a/c compressor and dryer bottle, but the suction hoses and condensor. I found the small shop down on 81 South that specializes in Mercedes in the local paper. What a find!!! Ray Mulveny, who is a trained Mercedes Technician and owner, gave me a great price and guaranteed the work. Come to find out, I didn't really need the suction hoses or condensor. Ray told me that you just had to make sure that you cleaned out the system well before replacing the compressor. Since then, Ray and I have become a trusted friend and has done more work on my Mercedes, always satisfying my needs at a reasonable price and gets the job done in just a few days. He is also one of the few guys that has the specialized equipment and software needed on the newer Benzs. He's an honest and genuine guy that you can trust and I would highly recommend. He can be found at 978 Crandall Road, Tiverton, RI. 401-625-1305.

I want to second this post about RDM and Ray Mulveny. I first found Ray through a buddy of mine with a '76 300D when I purchased the '87 300E. Since purchasing my car a couple of years ago I have had quite the run around with fixing different problems as they crop up. Ray has performed numerous jobs on my car, most recently the alternator and the water pump (I don't trust myself with that serpentine belt at all - I know I'll end up breaking the belt tensioner). In both cases I was given a great price and the work was done in within a couple days. Ray is very professional, knowlegable and trustworthy.

One thing I would like to emphasize is that Ray puts the customer/client first and in my case has given me information and tips to perform some basic jobs myself - information that the dealer would rather withold and charge me for. To me, that is the mark of a trustworthy tech and not something you see all that often. If you are anywhere in RI or southern MA I'd look to Ray before going anywhere else.

I'll be going to him shortly with my SDL. I've spoken to him on the phone a couple of times and he seems like a really nice guy. I hope he knows the old diesels!

RDM

Just picked up a '85 300D, my first diesel. learned of Ray's shop from this forum, took it to him for a look over. He fixed a linkage issue I created via a valve adjustment, tweaked it a bit, called it good and told me to have fun with it, gave me some pointers. I like this guy. He'll be getting more business from me at some point, I'm sure.

Hate to bump an old thread, but this guy is definitely the best factory-trained MB mechanic in the RI/MA area. Plus, he's a great, honest guy. He's helped me out big time on several occassions with the '84 190D.

Highly recommended.

Yes, RDM is absolutely first rate. Plus a very reasonable labor rate. Wish they were closer to me.

Ray is the man. He restored my BMW 633 CSI so sweet. The engine purrs like a kitten for a 30 year old car. Nice to have all interior gages, switches, and electric motors working. He saved me big bucks on parts. My Mercedes E320 is also in his fine care. More big savings on parts and he knows the car inside and out ! Why pay dealer prices ?

Does anyone know if Ray is still operating? i stopped by today to talk to him about a few issues and there was a chain across the driveway, and no one answered the phone.

I got a call from Ray late yesterday, he was out on an errand when I stopped by. He is still in business, and I'll be in touch with him to have a few things looked at.
