Thumbs up European Auto Solutions in Waltham, MA.

(Note: Posted this on another site and thread here on the site as well)

I Want to let everyone know that I finally gave in and replaced my transmission. I have been holding off about for about a year and half and saving some money. I took it to European Auto Solutions in Waltham, MA.

They ordered me a transmission from Mercedes. I was surprised to learn that they didn't have any in there New Jersey warehouse. With so many on the road I would think that more people ordered them. So we had to order one direct from Germany. I am sure most of you know that these aren't 'new' but rather rebuilt with new parts..etc. It's new enough where I got 24K miles of warranty. They told me when it came in last week it looked very new..

Word of caution:Ordering from Germany can take a few weeks so need to be patient. It took about 2 1/2-3 weeks to get in. I think mostly because it was around the holidays.

European Auto Solutions did an Amazing job with my car..AMAZING! When my car went into the shop it came in limping with the transmission in need of replacing along with a valve adjustment, steering box, 30K major service, and a bunch of other items. This company is about a year and half but they are extremely busy. There had to be about 20 cars in there garage. I saw mostly 80's and earlier..but I know they work on newer ones as well. Note though they are new most the guys came from Ed Hatch & sons..Someone else here on the board has a lot more experience with these guys but these guys were top notch and can't see myself going anywhere else. They suggested I do some things and didn't push me at all..you have to respect that..In the end I took their advice and replaced about everything.

In the past I went to Mercedes in North Haven because I had a few bad experience with some smaller places and wanted it done right. I really liked Mercedes of North Haven but wanted a change. Plus I moved back to Mass. European Auto Solutions reminds me a lot of a place I used to go to called A Better Wrench in Chapel Hill, NC. This is a place I use to go to and liked the feel of a place like this. So I am glad to be back to a place like this.

I had a nice 50 mile drive home tonight and it felt great to be able to go over 60mph for the first time in August of 2006. In August of 2006 the car started to slip. I was cautious at first but after a few miles I opened it up to about 75-80.

So with 270,100 miles on my car..I am ready for the push for 300K. I was excited to get to 200K but we know in a Mercedes it's respectable but nothing to brag about. For those with 300K or getting close...what are your thoughts on it? Does it feel different than 200K?

Any comments on me replacing my transmission or questions let me know.

Thanks,

Another shout out for EAS

EAS just did a once-over on my car and performed some work on it that was due. Super service. Super people.

Their paintless dent removal guy is a magician, btw.

Can't say enough nice things about Ed and Tim. Happy to talk to folks about 'em - just PM or email me.

Doody!

EAS

I had my wife's 380SL serviced there (went from a single-row to a double-row timing chain) plus some other things. Also pointed my mother in-law there for all her service. Can't say enough nice things. Very knowledgable folks.
