A/C Evaporator Replacement for w140

Does anyone know of a good place in CT or the
Springfield area of MA?

I have one quote from a dealer and I am looking for
options.

Thanks,
-Ralph

Whomever you choose..be VERY careful as the evap on a 140 is a major ordeal...the complete dash has to be taken out....AND put back together...mine was done about 2 years ago(under warranty)...took the tech 1.5 days to complete...I think the job paid 28 hours of labor and the part was $635.00

good luck guy

W140 evaporator

Check their work when finished.Dealer installed mine and left out a lot of screws and did a poor job reinstalling trim, especially front pillars. My bill was $4300.

you must have had additional work done...that price sounds awfully high...but in any case you can always gripe with the MB zone rep if you don't get satisfaction from the dealer

Man I need to go to that shop, I have done hundreds of 140 evaps over the years and it is only a 18 hr job . Yea its alot to do but not really that hard. It shouldnt take over a day to do it. Most shops and dealers are at 18 now, add reciever drier thats .8 , add evacuate and recharge and thats another 1.4 . Add it up and it is 20.2 so shop before you drop that money in it.:D

Actually the technition did the job in about 17 hours...but the book rate for the job was 28
...so they charged the warranty company for 28 hours of labor
I think if it had been from my pocket they would have charged me actual time

curiously this was the second evap job the car had had...first one was done in 1997 at the dealer while under the original owner....and I don;t think it was warranty work

This is not the first time I've heard of dealers leavings parts out when they do an evap job... be somewhat cautious.
