Philadelphia Area Body Shop

Ughhhh… my 300d has major rust underneath. Does anyone have a body shop they’d recommend? I usually go to Dinardo for everything but they don’t do body work.

I've shopped around for someone to do the bodywork to remedy the significant rust on my 220D and haven't been able to find anyone in the last 5 years in the Philly area who is willing to take the job.

That is more restoration than “body shop” work. Have you tried restoration shops?

I'll second that: body shops no longer do rust repair, nor do they straighten frames (as I discovered during my '66 230 vintage racer build project). Start looking for a restoration shop or hot-rod builder, but be prepared to reach WAY deep into your wallet.

Best of luck, and do please let us know if you find someone.

Best Regards,
Rob

That is a tough one. I have a rust bubble at the usual w126 location on a fender, and I think it can be salvaged but need someone who can do it.

I had a truck with a bit of frame rust. I found a shop near McGwire AFB that repaired jeep frames and he was easy to work with and did a great job. Currently the location has a Miata specialist and I’m not sure if it’s the same guy. Empire Automotive, 609-901-4158.

There’s another keep frame repair guy in egg harbor twp (maybe the same guy?), if you search South Jersey CL for keep frame repair.

Worth a shot as a starting point. The refinish is more doable once the rot is welded and to clean metal.
