'Murica has had frustrations with political parties in the past, yet independent parties have consistently failed to attract long term members, and more importantly now, serious financial backing.

Debate hypotheticals as much as you care to.

Only the Republicans and Democrats are strong enough to throw goodies your way so not sure how else to get your loyalty. You can't buy votes without some goods. You are also the common enemy of both parties since your seat means my party don't get the seat.

Besides, as I have always asked, if they have to court voters the same way but with their own twist, what is the real difference?

Third party candidates can't win. They can sure mess things up though. Ask GHWB. I don't see an R 3rd party run. But Bernie will certainly make life interesting for Hillary. If he bangs her up enough in Iowa and NH, the press will turn on her faster than 2008. Bernie won't last too deep into the other states, but a Jim Webb might find voice in SC, FL and other states if Sanders drags Hillary too far left.
Sanders will be a problem for HC. Check that. He already is.

At the end though, it'll be Clinton v Bush.
Debate scenario. Question for candidates on immigration, education, whatever: Hillary gives her rehearsed answers. Bush then answers. Then repeats it in fluent Spanish. OMG! Imagine Bush doing his own campaign ads on Telemundo. Peel away enough here and there... Bye Bye Miss American Pie.

Pretty much. Not sure why anyone places any significant attention to the debate. As you said, rehearsed answers and all we get to see is who has the most silver tongue.

Additionally, third party candidates unfortunately turn out to be 1) inexperienced 2) have limited positions, ie. tend to be one issue candidates and 3) where they do opine on areas other than their unique views, are either overtly radical or indistinguishable from mainstream candidates. Perot and Nader come to mind.

Kinda the confusion. We want a different candidate but we want him experienced but not experienced in deal making when we don't like the outcome but experienced to make the deals

Obviously ignoring the facts 1) not a thread I started; 2) never criticized the thread's validity or discussion content.

However, I'm glad to see that Winfield has another supporter in you, SRJ has been carrying the load for much too long by himself.

Take your next shot.

Through the Dude, I'm hoping for an improved quality of support for Larry, as the current quality is execrable.
