Did I get MAD this morning!

There are these folks that live at the end of our street. They have lots of money and live in the biggest house on the cul-de-sac. They let everyone know this on a regular basis and are very arrogant.

They have a full-sized (whatever the kind is) poodle that is borderline vicious. It often threatens my daughter if she's out (they NEVER have it on a leash, and it's occasionaly loose) and it terrorizes everyone that is walking their dog.

This morning, it attacked my 17 year old deaf cancer-ridden cat. The owner (the man-o-the-house) was walking it, and did NOTHING. In fact, he was runninh away while his dog had my cat in his mouth. I tore out of the house and managed to beat the damn dog away. I went back in, got dressed, and chased the fellow down.

Some history is required. About three years ago, this families 18 year old son went to prison for second degree murder. He cold-bloodedly killed another young man outside a night-club. He was well known in the neighbourhood as a young punk and jerk, and proved to be selfish enough to take someone else's son away from them.

Well, when I caught up to the dog owner, I really let fly. I asked him "what the f*** is the matter with you people? Everything you touch turns vicious. Vicious dog and killer kid!"

He REALLY didn't like being reminded of the fact that one of their sons (all five are rotten to the core...) is a murderer.

Then, as I'm walking away, he says... "Let me tell you a thing or two about your cat..." This sent me into a fit of laughter. My cat? My 17 year old, slow as 20W-50 at -40, cat that's deaf? The big bully? I again reminded him that NO ONE at my house was a convicted killer. He gathered up his dogs and left in quite a huff, again taking offence to my off-topic personal attack.

I wasn't polite. I wasn't calm. I was still overheated and used a lot of profanity. Of course, there was an upside. No violence, not even a hint.

Guess these neighbours have scratched us off their Christmas-card list. Oh well, not every can be my friend.

My, but you are restrained. I would have killed the dog. Viscious animal running loose, and has your cat in its mouth? Something to the line of self defense comes to mind. Hopefully, the guy would be stupid enough to call the cops, so that he could then be fined (and hopefully jailed) for having the viscious dog to begin with, and for the reclkess endangerment for letting it run loose. There is a reason why I keep a 6D cell maglite around the house. One hit, full force with that thing on the top of the dog's head, and that would be all she wrote.

Pattern: Undisciplined parents, undisciplined kids, undisciplined pets. Result is danger for the community.

Keep a notebook and call the law whenever things go wrong.

Establish a pattern. No telling what will come in the end, but if the police have a record and you have a record then your burden will not be so great as his.

B

PS Being rich just acts like a magnifying lense. An undisciplined ass with a little money isn't either as obnoxious nor as great a hazard as the same guy would be with money.

Unfortunately in a situation like this, the animals end up the victim. If you call the cop, they will take the dog away and put it under. As an animal lover, I will try not to put the dog in that situation, however, I will not be so kind to the human. It is not the dog's fault, it is the owner's responsibility to walk the dog on a leash. I think that is the law in pretty much everywhere.

To deal with ********* like that, call the cops on every little thing they do out of the ordinary. Hope one day, they get fed up with cops showing up every week and move away from the neighbourhood.

You are a better man than I am. I would have kicked his a$$ right there for letting the dog loose, running his mouth, and had the cat attacked.

How is kitty doing?

My nine yr old male tabby is still young enough to teach wayward doggies a quick lesson in canine/feline etiquette. Sounds like your neighbour needs a quick lesson as well...

Well, Boots the Cat seems okay. He's all crusty from dog slobber, but has no punctures, thank goodness. I roared out of the house at warp 11 (in my bathrobe!) and managed to break it up pretty quick.

I learned some years ago (decades now?) that thrashing this dog owner-idiot would feel great in the moment, but produce nothing but headaches long term. It took LOTS of restraint, and I will tell you that when he snidely tried to say that my cat was somehow a menace in the neighbourhood, I really felt like just *****-slapping him for a couple minutes, but instead pointed out the incredible stupidity of his inane remarks.

The thing that really eats me up is that this ********* went home and somehow felt that he was in the right. These kind of people always do. They have run-in's with many people on the street, and of course, it's always someone else's fault. They are always "right" no matter what happens. When their son, Micheal, was charged with murder, they spent a ton of money on a scumbucket defence attorney that managed to get the sentence reduced. They still assert, despite witnesses and the conviction, that their kid is innocent. What a bunch of crap. We all saw this kind of thing coming. The kid didn't work a day in his pathetic life and lived a life where he expected the world to do his bidding. When someone stood up to him, the only response he had was to cowardly stab him.

There are two wealthy families on our road, and both of them have failed at everything other than making money. Both families have children that are failures (all adults) and both families have an intimate knowledge of the justice system thanks to their children being in jail. These are the rudest of people, and take no consideration of other people.

We've been more than civil to these people, always taking the high road. We invite them to our frequent block parties, and never say a word about their behaviour, hoping I guess, to set some sort of example. Of course, this is flawed logic, as they view all of us as the wrong-doers. Nothing is ever their fault as they can't see past the selfish fog they live in.

Welcome back! Nothing like morning in the ‘burbs to remind you of why you left for a looooooooong walk in the park, eh? Good to read that Boots is okay! I feel sorrow that yer neighbor has to visit what is probably a life of many tragedies upon his neighbors.

Different topic: When do we get to see more trip-pix????

All this from Canadians!! What hope is left in the world.

It is easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Glad to hear your cat is ok.

As for the civility part, maybe it's time for that to be over and done with. Do not include these people in neighbourhood gatherings. If they just "show up," tell them "nicely" to leave. As others have said, every time they fart wrong, get the cops on their doorstep. I would hazard a guess, that they know damn good and well what they are doing, and will move on when they are made aware that the welcome mat to be taken advantage of has been removed.
