I am moving out of the country, too
Chazola is not the only one moving to Europe this year...
I made a mention of this in my "nightmare came true" thread but will go indepth in this thread. I was going to be a junior at Ohio State, but I have applied abroad to a brand new dental school in Poland this year and was accepted. I have been accepted to the English/American program so language won't be an issue. I will be back in the US during summers to work and do research. I jumped on this school because it was a no-brainer. 1st school to accept me, cheaper costs, BRAND NEW state of the art school, and nice faculty professors. The only disadvantage would be I would have to do 2 more years in the US if I plan on practicing. Either way, I would have essentially 2 DDS's in 7 years.. one to practice anywhere in Europe and in US. Or.. I can finish off my BS of Psych degree in another 2 to 3 years, take my chances of getting into a school I like and do 4 years of dental school and only end up with a US degree. Don't worry.. I will strive to be an honest dentist who's also nice. Don't fear my drill :p Last edited by Snibble; 08-20-2004 at 08:29 PM. Reason: syntax error |

Congrats,
I know someone that is interested in Dental School too. Do you happen to have a website for this school? What is the exact procedure to get a license in the US after you return with your dental degree from Poland? Thanks |

Congrats on being accepted to dental school. Its kind of different that you are planning to go to Poland for school while many Poles are coming here or to Germany! Anyway it sounds like a good idea and you should have fun in Europe... be sure to take side trips to Berlin and Amsterdam!

There will be some differences that I need to learn to get used to.Custom is one, "polishing" up my Polish, Food! When you go to a restaurant or even a fast food one. If you ask for a refill or ketchup or anything else, expect to be looked at as if you were crazy. Transportation will be good so no need for my personal car, plus the $4 a gallon thing is not a turn on. I will have $$ to spend on more necessary things than gas. Thanks for the kind words... but now my head is all focused on my car |

Will you be able to practice dentistry in the U.S. with that degree?

That should be a great experience for you. If you have the time (and the money, though flights are getting cheaper via discount airlines...) the opportunity to fly to London, Paris, Rome, etc. in 2-3 hours for weekend trips makes living in Europe a lot of fun, esp. if you're enjoying the much lower cost of living in central Europe. Don't forget the central cities - Krakow's just as beautiful as Prague, and Vienna and Budapest are great, too (it thins out after that, but still...).
