incedentally, quite a few of his generation were considered rather radical at the time. Some of them thought women should have equal rights, gays shouldn't be discrimiated against, that black citizens of this country ought to be respected the same as the whites, and that if we continued to destroy the air/water/forests in the manner in progress, we'd suffer in the future. I'm glad we had some radicals around in the 60s/70s. This place would have been an unsalvageable homogenous puritain toxic waste dump without them. They've grown up to be productive members of society.
I'd rather have someone who has consistently seen himself as an agent of change empowered by his democracy to speak out on issues important to him than one who believes he can never change anything and so keep opinions to himself and creepy band of homogenous brothers. How many people can answer Kerry's primary question of the day? "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?" Sure, it's got some presuppositions, but it's timely once again.
