This is one car guy that is ready for the Presidential election to be over. Perhaps then we can get back to talking about cars. Seems like we have attracted a few new members of the forum that have much too much time on their hands. And yes I am proud to say I support the President. This is the one and only post from me on the subject of Presidential politics.

Its all a plot. When I sat down with Hillary and Terry, it became apparent to us from the astounding chart we were looking at the Mercedes Benz owners would be the crucial swing voting bloc in this election. We are specifially interested in the critical 58 Pontoon vote. Only one or two pontoon voters could swing Florida. The same may be true of Pennsylvania Deisel owners, who normally tend Repub but might go democratic. As the dollar falls and the mark rises, so goes the pissed off Mercedes-Guy-at-the-Part-Store vote. But the sleeper in this election may be the early 60's hearse owners.

One can tell it is obviously a democrats ride, as it can double between car or homeless shelter.

... but ad hominem attacks like that aren't going to make Bush's detractors shut up or go away. They might make you feel better, but that's about as far as it is going to go.

It is fine to "support the President" -- heck, I used to myself, until I finally reached a breaking point with him about 18 months ago, and no longer trusted his judgement or competence, and no longer bought the hard sell that I had to support him. Reasonable people disagree about things like that. That's why we have debates and dissent -- even when we are engaged in armed conflict as a nation.

But at a wider level, you have to take into account (1) the ill will that Bush has generated with his hardball political tactics, as well as those of his allies (2) the body of mistakes that he has now committed in office, and (3) the pent-up frustration and anger that many people feel over the current state of the nation, which is engaged in two wars simultaneously, surrounded by threats and conflict, and is struggling with a terrible economy that we are constantly told is fabulous.

Those facts aren't going away. Nor can Bush's critics be silenced any longer by calling them names or questioning their motives.

Actually, we are getting these pretty regular, the Disgruntled-Conservative-I-Hate-You-Liberals-I'm-Leaving-Because-You-Are-Here posts. I always wonder why they say they are only posting this once? I think it is the same guy. The record was a peter something who spent weeks telling me he was leaving because of the liberals. It got to be quite the thread. It was like one of the old movies where it takes the villain twenty minutes to die from his bullet wound. Poor peter, it was like we had him on life support - as long as we kept arguning with him he stayed, and when the server went down, we lost him.

They aren't supposed to talk back.

They also aren't supposed to HIT back.

It's infuriating. It really is. Haven't those darned liberals and Democrats and so on learned to sit still and be good little doormats, just like Michael Dukakis back in 1988?

Hate to break it to ya, but this pic is of a Heckeflosse, not a Ponton. Looks to be a rare Binz hearse conversion of Heckeflosse too. Probably owned an Australian equivalent of a Republican, maybe from the critical swing state of Queensland.

I did not intend to construe it as a pontoon. It is a 63 hearse, and an Austrailian one at that. You may have just cost me the pontoon vote. Ever hear the name Vince Foster,pal? He rode in that baby, and once Hillary hears about this, you may get a turn.

It is a curious phenomenon. If a person is sick of the forum, or doesn't like the way things are going here, why can't he just give it up? For some reason, these guys post these notes as if we should all be so very upset that they are unhappy. I remember the several times MedMech announced his disapproval of things and his intentions to do something else. For reasons unexplained, other posters seemed to plead with him to stay. Why? If he doesn't like it, let him go; if he comes back, so be it. But these tearfull farewells, what utter B.S.
