Info-mercials
One of my biggets pet-peeves today. All these stupid info-mercials taking over the TV channels. Do people really buy stuff from these huksters? I guess they must. I don't get it. If I want to buy something, I don't want my intellegence to be insulted by these clowns peddling their wares. Regular commercials are bad enough. These things are just plain pissing me off. It's even getting into prime-time slots now.
Ok. I can hear it coming. If you don't like it, turn the TV off and read a book. I do need to do that more. But sometimes, I just want to relax and watch something. But these things are creeping in to more time slots when I want to do just that. Whew. Thanks. I needed that

They have great entertainment value! Who doesn't like watching Ron Popeil making jerky?
I have to admit that despite having a drawer full of Henkel chefs knives, I was given one of the "Miracle Blade III" slicers since my friend got two as part of the deal. I have to admit that does a nice job on carving chicken/turkey and cutting into frozen bread, but the blade is too long and skinny for much else. |

It really just comes down to money. They cost the networks nothing to produce and generate a lot of money. Why produce programming or pay for programs to air overnight when there is little to no audience? They make money by selling the airtime and usually get a cut of the sales as well. It's a win-win situation.

And TV stations wonder why they are loosing viewers! They then come up with these survivor shows. Oh well. (sigh)

Yes, a blast from the past!
The Miracle Slicer III is still doing a job on slicing bagels, cutting through frozen bread and egg cartons (why keep a half empty box of eggs when you have a Miracle Slicer!) I did find this pieces of advertising interesting. Made to the highest standards of German Stainless Steel (country of origin may vary) Anybody else have a "As Seen On TV" story? |
