Sold my Benz yesterday..

I finally had it with that old Benz. (1986 300E) I simply couldn't keep up with the amount of repairs this thing contantly needed.
It wasn't even about the cost of the repairs -well maybe a bit, but more the fact that i spent most of my spare time tinkering with it and always had parts in backorder at the dealership.. (i have come to know everyone there by first name!) And still it was able to develop new problems faster than i could fix the old ones..
Well, noone ever promised me an 18 year old car would be troublefree.

In respect for these cars we all love so much, it is only fair to mention that it was a great car. -Superb to drive and fairly easy to work on. And for 2½ years and 60000 miles it has NEVER left me stranded anywhere.

I'm thinking of getting something japanese to replace it. Or maybe a VW Golf VR6? I don't know yet. But i will always be looking out for another w124 with low miles and in perfect condition. and if i find it, i will buy it. -Those cars really get to you.

I hope you don't mind me popping by the forum from time to time. You guys are definately a special crowd.

After 2 and a half years in a Mercedes, you probably wont be able to drive a japanese car or VW for very long before you get indigestion.

I've had mine for about the same time and the last couple weeks or so in this Cavalier makes me cry at night. Good luck though, in finding another 124.
