Athens 2004
Well we recently returned from a trip to Rome, Italy then on to Athens, Greece for some olympic events. I was able to catch my favorite sports such as the decathalon and other track & field events. Unfortunately, my digital camera disappeared before we even got to Athens but I was able to capture our memories on plenty of 35mm stock, which I will soon scan and put onto the website for everyone to check out. I must say it was an incredible opportunity, and certainly a once in a lifetime thing to see the olympics in their mother country, and we all are able to breathe a sigh of relief that everything went off without incident (except of course in the men's marathon, which was a shame as that is THE original olympic event). One thing I wondered is why they haven't reincarnated chariot racing?? Such a cool thing it must have been to witness. I guess my desire to see such ancient rituals was fueled by visiting the Circus Maximus in Rome first then being in Greece, where the people had a strong lust for the competition. Oh well, maybe I need to start a campaign to bring back the chariots!!

I've heard the Olympics being described as "My Big Fat Greek International Party" and now the hangover is starting. Based on the budget overruns, they predict that Greek's are going to be paying for this event in taxes for the next 100 years.
