Question w211 smaller than w210!

I have been using a E-Class W210 for some time now. Yesterday, I test drove a w211 and was amazed to find the interanl cabin space to be less than that of the w210! although external dimesions are larger!!

Has anyone else found the w211 cramped compared to the w210 it replaces ?

Although I have not driven w210, I do find the rear leg room of my w211 to be rather pathetic for the price I paid When my son drives it(he is 6'1"), only a kid can sit behind him!!! Now 6'1" is not really that tall! MB should really stretch it a few more inches. But again, MB wants you to buy the S class for the few extra inches of leg room

Yes, the 211 is smaller(esp. the rear seating) but how else could MB create such a cavernous trunk?
