My dream Benz is a AMG 500SEC, preferable wide body: like the one talked about in the other thread. For me it's the most beautiful Mercedes ever.

Another favorite is the W124 convertible in dark gray with black interior.

But there is a new kid on the block: some rich hipster parks his AMG SLS on the street in my neighborhood. That's what I want for Xmas next year.

W123, no sunroof, crank windows, no radio, no AC, lowered about 1", higher spring and damping rates, quicker steering, BIG swaybars, bigger brakes, carbon fiber hood, fenders, and decklid, ported head, bigger turbo, intercooled, more fueling, a little (ok a lot) louder exhaust, five speed manual transmission.

Basically leave it looking close to stock but make it drive more like an early 911.

I'm thinking 180-200 horsepower and curb weight down to around 3200 lbs. With the five speed and a light foot 35 mpg highway might be possible. Unfortunately MB didn't ask me how I thought the 123 should be built, and I was seven when they stopped making them, so it wouldn't have helped if they did.

European Market 560SEL with a high compression engine, EVERY option (four place seating, orthopedic seats, adjustable hydraulic suspension, rear windscreen, car phone) in midnight blue over alpaca grey and 17" Aero I's in chrome

That, or a W140 S600 with everythang.

The 300SL is the obvious answer.

I'm really keen to the 140s right now. Maybe a 99 Grand Edition or S600.

Eh, the 300SL is pretty but I've always felt it was over done. Many more I'd rather own, to be frank; 280SE 4.5 coupe or a 300SEL 6.3 to name a few.

The W140 rightfully so; when I bought my W126 5 years ago, my uncle replaced it with a garaged estate find W140 420SEL with 9,000 miles on it When he gets tired of it, I am snapping it up, even if it is the lesser M119.

Black on black cloth (or some combination of greens or grays) w123 280E tinkered with by AMG (all the 80's cheese plus the engine/exhaust mods). Five speed manual, manual windows, manual sunroof, and manual A/C/Heat. Rear headrests and fold down trays for the rear passengers. Headlight wipers are a must obviously...

That or maybe an AMG tuned 500SEL with similar colors and options.
