Just thought I'd post this link in case anyone is interested in a free spell-checker for Firefox: SpellBound

It works great with my v1.0. I added it to v0.9, then upgraded to v1.0. The upgrade install claimed it wasn't compatible, but it's not true -- it works just fine.

I have it on 1.0

Context menu (e.g. right click for Windows and Linux / Control click for Macintosh) and select "Check Spelling".

Ctrl-Shift-F7 for Windows and Linux / Cmd-Shift-F7 for Macintosh.

Toolbar button in Firefox select View - Toolbars - Customize and then drag and drop the SpellBound toolbar button onto a toolbar.

The Spellchecker is only available when a text box has focus.

You must have an active cursor in a text box -- an area for text entry which you can edit. At other times, the spell checker is disabled.

Are you sure the file downloaded? You must have FireFox set to allow downloads or the install will fail.

The executable is probably to remove temp files after the install. You have what I have. Don't know what else to tell you...

thanks.

Wait a minute when i first tried to install the extension on v1.0 Firefox blocked it so I had to manually allow the site install the extension.

That BLOCK window is beneath the links bar highlighted in yellow.

MedMech 11-16-2004 08:26 AM

FIREFOX is not in the spell bound dictionary.

mzsmbs 11-25-2004 12:46 AM

thanks again. it works now after a reboot.
