Tracy, I'm not sure what the time frame is yet, but knowing me it should deviate from textbook cases, read that as quicker than norm. I did wake up this morn with less pain than yesterday, even though I expected more at the 48 hour mark. Yesterday evening I did wuss though and took one vicadin, that really took the edge off.
Med, I did get to watch the game from my sister's house in Canada. Watched for to sole reason of hoping to see my doc on the tube. Of course they don't show anything between quarters or halftime so I missed the speech, but I was there. Think I saw him after MSU made that 55 yd TD run and one legged tackle in the end zone. It was such a blow out at that point Canadian TV cut to some other game. Ted, my last Aikido session was probably 10 years ago, no idea what is blended in now. I remeber (and had to experience) all of the pain compliance techniques, some of which have come in handy . Bill, I promise not to push it. I will work at my body's healing pace. The best shoulder doc in Michigan just fixed me, and looking at the pictures he gave me the job is a work of art! It will be strictly one hand typing, shoot I even figured out that my hand spread allows me to "shift" with my thumb and hit any key with my pinkie. Everyone, thanks for the wishes! In a few hours we'll be unwraping the shoulder (per instructions) and then we'll see what the embrodery looks like. Best part is once the gauze is off I can hit the shower, trust me folks I need that!

Here's for a speedy recovery, and also that you don't lose your grip.

Hope your recovery goes well.
I just had my knee scoped to remove some debris/cartilage and some arthritis and I can tell you from this surgery as well as others I have had, that the key is to rehab, rehab, rehab. You can't half ass it or you'll pay for it later on...

Went in for the 1st post-op today. So far doing very well. The stitches were pulled and let me tell you that was a relief. Jeez, them things were itching something fierce. They were snugged up pretty tight, which added to the itch.
I asked if the injury appeared to be a single event or cumulative damage. Best guess is cumulative damage, with the last event being the one that broke the camel's back, or shoulder in this case. Movement is still very, very limited, mostly due to pain/inflamation of the bicep tendon. The tendon had frayed a little where it rides along the cartilage (where the tear was). The Doc cleaned up the tendon while he was in there. Expecting to be in a sling for another 4-6 weeks. Heading home to California tomorrow at oh-dark-thirty for a couple weeks R&R with the family. My 'stache is well beyond regs as it is now, should be fairly wild by the time I get back. That is unless I get called for an interview while in CA. Getting just a little bored doing virtually nothing.

Hell Mike, stay here at the 'shop and pick a fight about synthetic oil or oil additives. Those can last as long as your recovery, plus you'll leave a legacy to which future correspondents may aspire.
Ot how about this: The best all-round centerfire rifle for North American game is a XXXX. (my vote is a .30/06 or 7mm mag. Dang, I couldn't even make up my mind). |

My main battery is an old .270. Used to reload but now I buy commercial. I haven't even fired it in a couple of years. I need to join a shooting club and get back into firearms. Used to shoot and hunt and fish at every opportunity. Now I mow the lawn and go to soccer games.
And make beer! That's my rage against the machine! |

Winchester Model 70 in .270 is my rifle of choice. Please note however, for those following the Wis hunting thread, the Model 70 could be deemed an assault rifle by some as it was an issue weapon for USMC snipers. The Model 70 and Remington 700 I believe, both chambered in .308.
