First days of skiing

Ahhhh, finally got a few runs in over at Keystone last night. Not too many people, and man am I sore!

I hope this year is good for snow here in Colorado. Last year I only got to ski one time! This year I will try to go every day I can until I leave for boot camp.
Anybody else here ski?

mzsmbs 11-15-2004 12:37 AM

I'm looking foreword to it! This season i hope to match or exceed my previous season record for ski days. All I have to do is avoid injury..........again :bulb:

There is nothing better. I love to go in the middle of the week, when nobody is around. Nice and early. All alone...it's amazing.

I'm the king of the green/blue runs.... :D

Breckman99

I was just in Breckenridge ( Nov. 5 - 9 ).
No Snow ( til the day after I left ).
Even checked the conditions at Arrapahoe Basin.
Too bad.
I will just have to show up at the right time, next time.
Very nice Town though.
Had some difficulty breathing at your 10 k altitude. ;)

Breckman99 11-15-2004 07:42 PM

Ahhh, yes there is hardly any snow. they are making it like crazy at the resorts, and there is only a couple runs open here and there, but it will be a good year (I hope at least). Yes the altitude really does knock you down the first couple of days, espically if you drink!

I will be going out to breckenridge tommrow, see how everything looks there!

Haven't been back to Jackson since I got to spend 5 glorious days with their best healthcare professionals

Yeap got 3 screws to prove it too.

I was filming the new version of ABC Sport "Thrill of Victory and Agony of Defeat!" ;) ...........guess which part............

Take a slide down Toilet Bowl after missing a jump turn. Cracked the top of my tibia.

Been skiing twice since then and can run up the soccer field with my kids (somethings are important).

Can't beat Jackson for vertical, but I like the inches over at Targhee.

Still have my timeshare in Jackson.

Jason Beal 11-16-2004 12:30 AM

I was up at Targhee early this summer and there was still snow up there. Guess we also missed the snow storm the day before we came up. I love those Tetons...never skied them though.

Consider yourself a very fortunate man, fresh snow so early in the season!
It's Wengen, Switzerland for a week after Christmas for me, and another week in probably Austria end-of-February. Cann't wait for the fresh, frosty mountain air and the snow-covered Alpine scenery. Lots of snow last year in Portes du Soleil, France, HUGE loads of fresh powder. Still remember a day when I hardly noticed my skies under my boots all day, just awesome :) Got myself a nice set of Atomic SL9's this Summer with matching poles at a very nice discount price: cann't wait for the first runs.

I can't wait for the season to going up here. Kilington probably has a few runs open, but I'll let them get a few more open and start next month.

Jason Beal that was me last year I really liked the blue runs but now blacks are calling me. :D

Zeus 11-16-2004 01:20 PM

Just got my season's pass! YEAH!!

I try to ski every Monday night and occasional weekends. Perhaps a trip to Whistler this April.

I dunno...some of those blacks sure do look scary......

If you fall down a black run though, it would be more spectacular I suppose. :D

I did a double once (once! :D ) that was steep enough that if you fell you would not stop!

Thats not my kind of skiing I like long fast runs where I can fly down a nice twisty run.

Lebenz 11-16-2004 05:08 PM

Ohhhhhhhhh

The pursuit of vertical is a thrill unequaled by any other sport.

Except free fall, I can only guess.

Nothing sweeter than dropping 10’ to 20’ of elevation in a perfectly balanced turn. Almost like jumping off the roof and getting away with it.

Nothing sweeter, that is, except the transition to the next turn.

Ohhhhhhhhh :rolleyes5 :rolleyes4
:eek2:

No doubt! I lived in Breck for a while and I never got used to the altitude. The locals in Breckenridge are some of, if not, the nicest people I've ever known. I really miss the $2 pint night at the Breckenridge B-B-Q. Man-o-man is that some good micro brew. However, no matter how much I drank, I could not make the local women attractive.
