John Denver Title
Hey everyone.
I am looking for a title of a John Denver song, at least I am pretty sure it was him. It is about a Irishman in a Kilt who gets drunk and falls a sleep under a tree. Two young women walk by and wonder if it is true about What they wear under a kilt. Anyway, when he wakes up he has to take a wiz and low and behold there is a blue ribbon around his pecker. The final line is "Well I don;t know where you've been boy, but I see you've won first prize". Any idea what the name of the song is? Thanks |
The song is called "The Sleeping Scotsman". Denver did record it, but he may or may not have written the song.

Does anyone have a MP3 of it? I did a search on Win MX with no luck.
Thanks |

'nuthin more than god had graced him with, upon his birth'
code for 'true', as kilts are meant to be worn... by SCOTS, not irish... fun song |
Its on Bearshare

I have it on a Dr Demento tape also, so if you want a copy of it, keep that in mind too.

Man. Dr. D. That brings back some memories. I used to listen to him all the time when I lived in LA. Have not been able to find hi since I moved. First Tucson and now Dallas. Is he still on the radio? Fish Heads, the candy bar song, Weird Al .... ahh the good old days. |
Here's a link to his site:
http://www.drdemento.com/ I tried getting the station list for the stations that carry his program (he states on the site that he's still airing on over 100 stations), but the station locator is no use (pop-up city), and he even warns that the policy of the network prevents him from listing the channels (HUH?). Maybe enter the state you live in and "Dr Demento" and that'll hook you up. Hopefully you could even come up with a webcast of it, lot's of stations do that these days. Maybe I'll make that my short-term mission in life, find a webcast of Dr Demento.......world hunger will have to wait! Gilly PS There is a catalog of albums (I assume tapes and discs) on his website, i also believe "Rhino Records" use to make his stuff. The album with the Scotsman song on it I know was by Rhino, and I think it was called something like "Dementia Royale". |
Is Dr Demento enough reason to get XM???
From his website:

OK, since you seem to be a bastion of music knowledge. There was a sng he played that would have been pronographic were it not for the use of all the candy bar names in place of the "good stuff". Do you know what that one is called or who it was by?

If you mean me (and I would hope you meant GermanStar, not me), I haven't a clue. The Scotsman one I do have on a Demento tape, I don't recall this, and a search on John Denver song lyrics is coming up empty.
I do recall seeing a handout making the rounds in the shop once that was kind of like that, things like slipping his Butterfinger into her KitKat, rubbing her Mounds, things like that ring a bell? Oh, and 9 months later Baby Ruth was born? Gilly |
That's the one. There was a song on Dr. D Deffinitly not by John Denver though :)
|
I don't recall hearing that put to a song
