Around here, they will arrest you and haul your butt before the judge. Best bet is to call-in and apologize like crazy.

I've been called to jury duty twice and got kicked both times, dang it. I'd like to go through a trial at least once in my life. Uh, as a jury member only.

By the way, its part of citizenship. I have nothing but contempt for people who avoid their duty.

Let somebody else do it, hell. Be a man.

Texas seems pretty relaxed about it, at least in my county. Last time I had jury duty I think about 1/3 of the role call were missing. Ultimately I escaped selection for that jury. It turned out to be a big meth lab case. The trial went 8 or 9 days. They gave the evildoer 20 years in Huntsville.

I dunno what happens to somebody who doesn't show up. I imagine they just claim they never got the summons. There's no real way for the county to prove otherwise.

Frosty, you better find out the ramifications of this in your state. Next thing you know you'll get stopped for something stupid like a broken tail light, then you'll find out there is a warrant out on you! (If your like is like mine you'll be late for work or out on a date at the time!)
