I don't count on them to defend me.......they are there to make Ebay and the sellers money, not help the Buyer.

I've been using paypal and ebay for 3 + years and never had a problem..
It seems most of these complaints are from people who have not upgraded to a premier account, and are complaining because they can;t accept more than $500 per month... I have been a premier account holder since I opened my account, and have never had an issue, and have sold thousands of dollars of stuff on ebay and trough paypal payments. never had an issue at all. And never had trouble with any transactions. I think that some of the people got screwed because they were trying to scam others, and I think that maybe some of the people have legitimately had problems, but I have never had an issue. Anyone who opens and e-mail from ebay or paypal and clicks the links in it and put in theri information deserves it. if those e-mails were real, you would know, and if they were real. I would still opena new browser window and then open the site by typing the address to the site myself. The spoof e-mails if you look att he properties for the links they ask you to click, will always be off ebay's site. in fact you can click on one of the links,a nd guaranteed you can put any username and password in the fields and it will take you in. Several tiems I have gone to those spoof e-mail sites and put in things like. F*** You in the username and password and still it took me to the next page... Whenever I get a spoof e-mail like that or any e-mail from ebay or paypal or any bank asking to verify my information I forward it to their spoof accounts. If you read a lot of those forum messages in that site, you will find most of them complain that paypal did this and paypal didn't do that etc etc etc. If paypal limits someones account, it;s because they were doing something fraudulent or shady in most cases. I.E. not paying sellers for items, or selling soemthing and not shipping the item etc. Alon

You would be wise to keep very little money in any bank account that you have linked to paypal.
You would be wise to link a card with a very low credit limit to paypal. You would be wise to not accept large credit card payments via paypal. Buyers who pay with a credit card via paypal can chargeback the payment months later and paypal will withdraw the money from your bank account or credit card. The link in the first post is one worth visiting before you do any volume on paypal. Never use links in email to access paypal. Never give your paypal password to anyone or access paypal from a public computer. If you plan on using paypal when you are away from home, change your password when you leave home and when you return. All of this having been said, I use paypal frequently and have never had any problems. |

As a buyer, I don't count on them to defend me. As a seller, I don't count on them to defend me. The only time I expect them to act in my best interests is when that happens to coincide with their best interests. That said, I haven't personally had any problems with them, but I think that's largely because, out of several hundred transactions, I have yet to have a really problematic one where either party turned to PayPal for help. I also haven't had the misfortune of getting hit by a "chargeback scammer" yet. It would appear that the sort of stuff I sell doesn't have that much appeal to scammers. Knock on wood... |
