Another tip to cut down on junk mail
Most of you here know how much I hate junk mail. I have found a way to cut it waaaaay down. I am talking specifically about junk preapproved credit card offers.
Whenever you get one in the mail. You can call their 800 number and ask specifically to be put on their "do not solicit" list. you can also tell them the names of the other people in your household. I've been doing this for a couple of months now and it really works. I actually look forward to getting these offers in the mail now! Let me know how it works for you....or better yet, tell them you got the idea from me! ha! |
After we moved, I came up with a perfect system. I walk down the driveway to the mailbox, grab the mail, look through it on the way back, and the junk mail's already torn up by the time I reach the trash cans in the garage. No junk mail makes it into the house and I don't have to spend time on the telephone either. :)

postage paid
Better yet send back the empty postage paid envelope to them so it cost them a little!!

If the junk mail comes with one of those return postage envelopes, glue the envelope to a brick and send it back.

My junk mail just ends up being kindling for the next trash burn. For those who are just tossing their stuff in the dumpster. I'd highly recommend you reconsider. This is how Identity theft occurs. Get a cheap shredder, and shred the offers.
Of course, I do like Palangi's idea. I could use them to help me clean up the dog's yard. A nice little box of dog poo as a thank you for cluttering up my mailbox with crap. :D |
