My in-laws who are now in their 80's have flitted back and forth across the Atlantic between Canada and the UK for most of their adult lives. I have a UK passport, and my wife is applying for hers (she's Canadian) and we have thought about part-time residence in Europe.
Things are pricey over there now that the dollar has been falling. London is a wonderful city, but I think I might look for something further south in Europe where the weather is a little more pleasant.
My tenative plan is to own a small RV in Europe when we retire so that we can spend months at a time travelling around. Most European cities have great campsites either within the city limits or close enough for a quick bus or train ride into the city center.
