Christmas gifts for wives....

well I only have one, but the thought was there.

Just wondering what we plan on giving our wives and husbands this year.

I may not get her much 'cause I just had our kitchen remodeled. My idea, my design, I paid for it out of the proceeds from my boat sale. No surprise possible. So....

I will probably put a ribbon somewhere on it and leave it at that.

What about you all?

Ouch!!. Those things kill my knees. My wife is a machine on them though!

I played the internet gift purchasing this year - which was easy but has some unexpected suprises. The wife got her Grandather Clock that she has wanted for eons - unfortunaley it was delivered by truck and had huge marking on the side HANDLE CAREFULLY CLOCK/GLASS. Probably won't be any suprises there since she signed for it. Same with the Gateway Computer no disguising that box. Much of the gifts for the other members of the household were not discreet as well. I bought a few MB things to mix into the deliveries --- I shouldn't complain about packaging but they were a little obvious. The windshield wiper blades from Fastlane had a box that appeared to contain a gas powered hedge trimmer -and you can miss the MS logo. Much like the plastic pieces from "XYZ" that came in a box that could have contained a small freezer with the MB star on the side as large as the front door on my SDL. Oh well, we don't play the Santa game anymore with everyone older. Live and Learn

No SO to buy for... I did buy a decent piece of jewelry for my mom, and 'Santa Claus' is bringing my son a GameBoy Advance, making this my most expensive Christmas ever, but that's cool -- you know what they say, you can't take it with you

About 10 years ago Christine and I said enough of this insanity. We stopped giving and exchanging gifts with everyone. It is stupid to spend hours searching for that gift that someone will graciously receive and thank you for and put in the closet where it will stay until it gets boxed with all the other things going to the donation station. The good feeling of not giving gifts continues through February when you don't notice any additional items on your credit cards. If she and I give each other anything, it is something really wanted or needed. In the past I have given her a new vacuum cleaner and a Beretta semi automatic. She has given me a Makita cordless drill set which she lets me use on her projects. She has also added to my All-Clad collection which she also benefits from. This year she wants a warm scarf and a new pair of house slippers. I want a vegetable peeler, an All-Clad roasting pan, and a new dictionary. My dictionary is an 84 edition and a college version. I'll never get another college version again, because it has come to my attention that college students don't know very many words. Every time I want to check a spelling, the word isn't in there. At any rate some of you should try giving up the madness, It's wonderful. Just think how much time and money you'll save just by not sending greeting cards to your neighbors.

I have and I agree completely. It's wonderful. Not having to go to the malls from Thanksgiving to Christmas is especially wonderful. No SO makes it that much easier to do.
