We all know how much W spends protecting us on our own shores.

Why do they broadcast this?
Seriously. Why invite trouble?
That's up there with the newsfolk telling the terrorists after the first WTC bombing...."Now, if they had only done. xxx, they would have taken the whole building down instead of just damaging it.". I know the argument can be made that anyone who is serious and worth their salt about doing us harm would figure it out anyway, but this just sounds like tempting fate. Maybe it's just me, but if I had that information and I was a responsible news person or organization, I'd go and tell someone in Homeland Security or the coast guard who could maybe have a little pull and hope they'd quietly do something about it instead of broadcasting a huge vulnerability. What's next, broadcasting the schedule/timetables of anything being shipped that's highly explosive? I know many folks laugh at the whole homeland security thing and how much good it's doing or not doing, but how is this broadcast helpful? It's like saying "Hey,look over here! Maybe you didn't think of this one. Well we did and I bet you can't blow that sucker up, our security is so good!" Loose lips sink ships.

The one who really pissed me off was the idiot Republican hack who gave a farewell speech a couple of days ago as he was leaving office - I believe it was Tommy Thompson, departing HHS Secretary - wondering aloud why OBL hasn't poisoned our food supply and then giving details on where it was vulnerable. What an idiot.

I heard through the grape vine that it was a cheap (but neccesary) shot at the Bush admin to do something about this issue. I guess the soldier questioning Rumsfeld and the action that followed gave him the idea. So maybe he ain't such an idiot after all. |

I think it is more like some idiot thinking up some dip$hit scenario of a "terrorist threat" that applied to his particular hack fifedom.

i always cringe when i hear them (the news) do stories like that. the food supply thing was probably the worst but I have noticed that nothing get's done in this country unless it gets public exposure/attention. unfortuanly that's the way it works. maybe eventually things will get better. there are so many security gaps it is not funny. if any of you have been outside this country, you probably know exactly what i mean..
