Straight pipe on a 190

I mede a new friend today that picked up an early 90's 190 (single overhead cam engine) from a local good ol' boy redneck. Seems the cat converter/muffler must have gone out on the car and the guy welded in a piece of straight pipe from a back yard swing set in place of the complete exh system underneath the car. It fit snug underneath the rear suspension adjacent to the differential but it was an absolutely straight piece of pipe. The new owner found a fart can sitting by the interstate and had welded it onto the end underneath the bumper. I was not able to hear it run but the guy said it sounded pretty "rice". Said he got the car when it quit showing an oil pressure indication. Ran a bunch of new oil and kero through the engine while changing it and the filter and the oil pressure came back. Cleaned out the sludge - the redneck never did anything the car. Anyway, the guy owns European Car in Rentz, Ga. If you are ever in the area stop by and visit. Pretty neat place the guy has there.

In Germany they sell a "race" exhaust adapter that replaces the cat and the middle resonator and is slightly larger diameter. Have to wonder how he configured the CIS and the O2 sensor so that it didn't go into "limp home" mode.
