Lifelong Illinois fan here. I still wince in pain when I think of Kendall Gill, Nick Anderson, Marcus Liberty, Kenny Battle and the gang losing to Michigan in the Final Four after beating them twice during the regular season. Pretty early to pick a final four since conference play has just now begun. An injury here or there and it's a whole new mix... Isn't Michigan State a little hopeful?

Final two, Duke & Kansas. More accutrate prediction is that ticket prices for the playoffs will be scalped at outrageous prices. I was in Indy when NCAA was there and good seats were going for around $1200.00 on the street.

That's me too, GermanStar. This year's group seems really special--three quick guards, all of whom can shoot; great court sense, with talents that are specially suited to the motion offense; and true unselfishness all around. Their Achilles heel might be the post defense--good guys there, but are they tough enough for the bruisers they're likely to encounter in the NCAA?

Skill and great athleticism can overpower any opponent -- look at the '89 team as a classic example -- no starter over 6'7" and no starter you would even call a power forward. They are a little thin up top -- an injury or two could hurt them, but I see clear sailing as long as they stay healthy. It's gonna be a fun ride this year!

Not only did my GI Bill money go to Michigan State and there's a building on campus named after my family and not to mention my first row center seats, I still have realistic hope that they will make a Final Four appearance.

1. The selection committee loves them
2. History proves that even with a so so team they make of or come very close every year.

Illinois is going to be the deciding factor because the selection committee will not allow a Big Ten championship game.

For you Michigan fans.....I'm sure your love for them is conditional on whether they are winning or not. I rarely meet a Michigan fan that has lived in Ann Arbor, has a family member who went to Michigan and if they applied to Michigan they'd have a snowballs chance in hell getting in.

GREAT game tonight!!! GO ILLINI!

I'm still a little dizzy from EIU's run a few years back. I was there for the OVC Championship game when we came back from a massive deficit to beat Austin Peay. That was the most exciting sporting event I have ever witnessed. Of course, we then drew no. 1 seed AZ and were properly manhandled.

We suck this year, though... oh well.

Illinois is #1 no question about that, I hope they go undefeated. BUT keep in mind the the Big Ten champ has NEVER won the Big Ten tournament.

I thought there was a glimmer of hope in the first part of the second half but after the 20-7 run there's no way to come back on a team like Illinois.
