This will be in my E55 Wagon if El prez ever gets me hooked up with one.

Seems lots of owners have to "upgrade" their cars to get the integration pack to work with their dockable iPods. :D Seems everything I've read says that it would be a bear to retrofit to current CANBUS systems. Volvo has two iPod integration systems, a hardwire and an FM modulator. I wonder what the Ferrari one will look like.

I'm sure they(ferrari) will integrate it with the Driver Information LCD.

Does iPod have a through-the-cassette thingy like XM has? I have the XM thing and it works great. I'd buy an iPod if it could do that. But who needs 10,000 songs?

I got the 40 Gb iPod, and have it halfway filled up already. I got most of the songs from my brother, who shamelessly downloaded them for free. :P
As for me, I actually pay for my music via iTunes.

A company called Dension makes a good iPod connector, that allows you to connect your iPod to your headunit.

I'm not sure about iPod but Santa brought my daughter a 512K Sandisk for Christmas which was a CR best buy, Santa's pretty smart. Anyway Santa said it cost about $100 bucks the thing I like best about it is the size which is a little smaller than a tube of lipstick, an intergrated ipod is definitly on the horizon.

I'm eager to explore solutions. Apparantly they have one with a built in FM transmitter which would come in handy camping or at the beach, I have a XM boom box and sometimes it's tough to get a signal in the woods. If your asking why I take a radio camping I need CNBC and tickers or it can be a very expensive camping trip.

The most expensive iPod is the one with the most memory, 40 Gb, which costs $399.00. There are smaller ones, the smallest of which is 20 Gb, I think.

The cables connect one of two ways: via the same connection that your CD changer plugs into the back of the head unit, or via RCA jacks that would plug into an auxillary input at the back of the head unit.

The CD changer plug-in is the best way because it allows you to use the CD control functions on the head unit to change songs. If you have a popular aftermarket head unit, like Pioneer, Sony, or Alpine, chances are good the company that makes the interface cables make a cable that will plug into the back of the headunit. Cables are also available for newer factory head units.

I have a high end Nakamichi unit, which means the cable isn't made, so I plug mine into one of the two auxillary inputs in the back of the head unit.

I still get perfect sound, but I have to use the iPod to toggle between songs.

Aside from the "AUX IN" lines of some head units, there is also the "Ice-Link" system to connect iPods and Alpine has a head unit that provides an iPod interface, so that you control the iPod through the headunit.

Right. The "Ice-Link" system is the Dension system that I mentioned.

Do a google search and you'll find that their website is somethingn like www.dension.com

The Ice-Link system either connectes via the CD changer slot, or through the auxillary input jacks. You just have to have a head unit that they make the cable for.

If I remember correctly, they have a listing or chart showing the aftermarket brands and factory radio's that work with their cable.

I don't know if it interfaces with original MB Becker radios.
