Woo Hoo........sometimes the system works.

Well today I beat my 4th radar ticket in court............Judge suspended the case..........didn't even pay court costs.....

The Cocky SOB claimed I was doing 77 in a 55 zone......a reckless driving charge here in VA.
Sometimes the idiot with the badge isn't automaticly believed to be above reproach.

And for the record.........I really wasn't speeding at that time.

That and the cops version was so far from mine............

Cops said his story, and when it was my turn I flat out told the judge that my recolection of the events didn't even remotely resemble what the cop said and went on to explain.

Good for you brother

It cost you time, maybe off work, to appear in court because some revenue generator decided to run you through the ticket mill. It's costs him nothing, either way.

You are lucky he didn't treat you like a king. Rodney King.

I think cops go into court on their days off - so it's a pain for him also.

Crash9's is from Tom Leher of 1960's comedy fame, That Was The Year That Was.

It was true then, it's true now, and it will still be true.

I have been to Kangaroo court....................those were in western MD.........

But a sick day I wasn't going to use anyway to fight a reckless driving charge I was innocent of..........................good use of a sick day in my mind.

Oh...this was one Cocky young cop......little chubby kid walking around like he was something special...........should have seen his face when the judge said she had reason to doubt the actual events as he described them...

It was worth the day off just for that..........I was the only one to contest a ticket he wrote that day.............and there were a lot of people there. AStarted at 9:30 am and I won my case at 1pm.

I have a court date coming up for a VERY bad speeding ticket. I swear I was not traveling nearly as quick as this young buck said I was (ticket for 110 in a 55). 3 am, the morning of Christmas eve, no cars on the road on a 6 lane highway. Bastard. I'll definately cop to going 80. No problem there. But I could be facing criminal charges because some 25 year old cop needed to keep his quota up at my expense. I've called in my "narwhal" to take care of this one, but hopefully my case goes as well as BHD's. This is not the first instance I've heard of recently of traffic cops out and out lying about the rate of speed some one was alledgedly travelling. Damn the man.

Damn.................if you don't have a lawyer get one NOW. You need a good one. A real good one......

In my 27 years of driving I have been busted for doing exactly what they accused me of 4 times..............and about 10 times I wasn't doing what I was accused of...............sometimes not at all.

Like the time in 1984 I was pulled over for impropper passing...........at 11:30 pm when the last car I even saw was 10 miles earlier.

And the cop ( a MD state trooper ...a woman) almost bit my head off when I asked her exactly what I passed and where did I pass it.

THey found me guilty but gave me probation adn no points if I transfered my drivers license and registration to MD (they were in PA)

We have lots and lots of automated speed/redlight cameras in Scottsdale and Phoenix. I am always seeing the flash go off on some unlucky person. The "real" reason why they were installed came out in the paper recently. The reason?!! City revenue! Not safety! There is still a loophole that they haven't filled yet in the law... The law states that either an officer or a process server has to hand it to you in person and sign for it. If it is just mailed to you, it does not fill these requirements. So... when you get one, throw it away. They cannot prove that it wasn't missdelivered. There are already plans to fill this gap. 90% of people just pay them. Welcome to everyones future.

PHAEDRUS242 01-21-2005 11:27 AM

I had left a message on my lawyer's phone before the cop came back with my ticket. Pull out the big guns. The guy's real expensive, but he golfs with all the judges in the county. I'm aggravated that I have to take a day off work and shell out the cash to fight this bogus rap. I would truly be less offended if the cops just pulled you over and said "hey, i need about a hundred bucks from you". I follow this up by saying there a lots of good, hardworking cops out there that I have no issues with. A few bad apples is all. Well, I've got a clean driving record, no criminal charges ever and hold a seat on a citizen's board in my town. Hopefully no real trouble will come of this. We shall see at the end of the month.

\I agree I am totally against this issue where they do extortion and can't even be bothered to use a cop so you have a fighting chance of knowing what happened rather than getting a notice in the mail a month or two later...

Ever see lights short cycle...I have....how can you possibly defend your self becasue who remembers every single thing that happens over the two prior months..................It hardly fits the due prosess law............
