mystery car problem (non-mb)

our family van, a 93 mercry villager, has developed a hard starting problem which i thought to be fuel delivery related. it eventually starts after 2-3 trys. fuel pump, regulator, fuel filter are recent. it seems if i wait about 10 seconds it starts fine. the strange thing is that the remote starter gets it going on the first try. i was ready to have the fuel injectors checked for leaks but this morning i watched as it started via remote and it started right up within 2-3 seconds. this has debunked my earlier suspicion that it could be a fuel delivery problem. anyone care to take a stab at this gremlin?

Sounds very electrical. I had an old Audi that some days I'd crank, and it wouldn't catch, until I let up on the key, then at that instant it'd catch. Turned out to be the ignition switch. One of the internal contacts was wore/burnt in the "start" position. Probably not the same thing as what you have going on, but may be some kind of relay or something going away.

just for fun could you try to open the window and reach in to start the car with the keys without loading up the suspension?

The crankshaft (or camshaft) position sensor seems to be a prevalent culprit of "no-start" conditions among my domestic-vehicle-owning brethren...
