Litterbug Question regarding smokers

Why is it that smokers don't think twice about tossing their butts wherever they please? Maybe they think the butts are biodegradable? Maybe it is their way of thumbing their noses at the non-smokers?

Does it not count as littering? What am I missing here?

I think a lot of uninformed people just don't care about the environment. Even if they knew the chemical leachate laundry list that comes out of one of those cancer sticks...i doubt they'd care. Not to say that I don't recycle every can that I drink from or recycle every scrap of paper but I see a lot of people that just smoke and toss the burning butts directly into the storm drains or directly onto lawns! What gives! I think the third party effects have litttle impact on people that are poseurs in a slammed GS430 with spinners. I have friends who do smoke but are at least conscious in the effect that they will make the extra 10 steps to put out the cigarette in an ashtray rather then tossing it into the street.

I doubt that will change his views on smoking and since cigarettes are such inelastic goods, Ford is going to make a fortune off of that guy

With all of the data available on the health risks associated with smoking, you may be missing the fact that such individuals are not of a sound mind.

Tossing said cigarette butt onto ground would be SOP for a person that is not of a sound mind.

I think all those toxins cause brain damage that renders these people incapible of comprehending the damage they cause.

Forest fires being the most obvious of them.

Did your parents smoke? If so, were they brain-damaged?

Are or were you one of those butt tossers that would rather litter than actually soil their ashtray?

Yes, there are health risks but not everybody cares or not everybody cares enough to do something about it. Just because I know that smoking might give me lung cancer doesn't mean I want to stop, does it? I know that driving fast will kill me. Do I necessarily want to stop it? I suppose, if it makes you feel good to pat yourself on the back because you are a saint, go for it. That said, tell me, do you do ANYTHING that is unhealthy in any way, shape or form? I know I do. Does it mean that if I know I will change it? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the pleasure I get out of a said action.

The word Rumplestilskin comes to mind. Just because you name the deamon doesn't mean it goes away. You have to make it go away. I know drinking 2 litres of Coke a day is not good. So what? Because I won't give it up, it is an automatic thing that I am not of sound mind? Maybe my philosophy is that I will live life on my terms. When life is not pleasurable, I will check out.

Just because you treat your body as a temple, doesn't meant that anyone who doesn't isn't sane.

What woman wants to visit a temple that isn't kept clean, neat and free of rot?

The woman that wants a place to get on her knees and give thanks and not the one that wants to see the outside only? I mean, only Supergirl can see your lungs.

That depends on which head she is kissing. She might be the one spitting, I don't know or really care. Besides, I have sat next to smokers and they don't sit and hack all night long like the anti smoking ads would like you to believe.
